Frequently asked questions
How do I add silence to the beginning or end of a track?
Drag the clip to the right and silence automatically fills the front — or drop it anywhere in the empty runway past the end of the track to pad the tail. Then drag the gap's edge to fine-tune the exact length.
Can I replace a section with silence instead of cutting it out?
Yes — that's the "lift" edit. Select the range and press ⌥⌫ (or right-click → "Lift — leave silence"). The audio is removed but the timing of everything after it is preserved, which matters when your track has to stay in sync with video or a transcript.
How precise can the silence length be?
Gaps snap to the ruler grid, markers, and clip edges as you drag — or hold ⌘ to place them freely at any length down to a twentieth of a second. The time bubble shows the exact position while you drag.
Is the audio uploaded anywhere?
No. The timeline, the silence, and the export all run in your browser via WebAssembly. Your files stay on your device.
